Father Joe's Banana Project

Understanding humans is something that I am passionate about and helping those less fortunate brings me joy. My family and I feed the homeless during the holidays ever year and one time I realized that a lot of the individuals were not taking the fruit because they were hard crunchy apples. I know the value of good nutrition and the value good fruit provides to the body and thought of a solution immediately...bananas! I used the proceeds from my art sales to buy bananas that I donated to Father Joe's to provide fruit for the homeless over the Thanksgiving holiday.

Teen Tutor Program

During my sophomore year of high school, I felt the need to give back to young girls that didn't have an older sibling to assist them with their school work. I volunteered every Tuesday for 2 hours a day to sit with them, develop a relationship with them, and to help them with their school work. The bonds I created with these young girls helped me to understand the importance of positive role models and how I can give back to my community.

Learn to Row Volunteer

In support of San Diego Rowing Club, I have volunteered at numerous "Learn to Row" sessions. These are free camps for the youth of San Diego as well as the Boys and Girls Clubs of San Diego, to come to Mission Bay and to have an opportunity to learn about rowing and even get out in a boat!
